Commendation Medal

Firefighter commendation bars for life safety?

being a firefighter on a small department we don’t get commendation bars or any other sorts of awards for outstanding efforts rendered.. I have a question for those on a bigger department who do receive rewards and other things.. is there a commendation bar for saving a life or is it only in the form of a medal?

Here in Crestview, it’s both. We receive a red bar with gold trim, for life saving, that is worn on the left breast above the pocket on our shirt. We also receive a medal that is worn on the jacket on the left breast below the badge.
