Marine Force Recon and Color Blindness?
I’m getting ready to enlist in the Marines and I would really like to give Force Recon a try.
The problem is I’m color blind.
It’s odd though. I can not for the life of me pass one of the dot tests they give you at the eye doctors; the tests where you have to see the numbers in the dots with the circles.
Yet, if you put a bunch of different colors in front of me, I have no problem naming each and every one of them.
My main question is, would they offer me a waiver for that if I met all of the other qualifications needed?
A waiver is not gonna help you distinguish between colors….You need to be able to spot colors at great distances, be able to see different flares in the sky, be able to see different colors on a map..you must be able to see colors from near and far…and if your MOS is not grunts than you will never get a chance at Ricky Recon…Semper Fi!
