Mauser 98 Bayonet Lug Issue?
Okay, where to start…
I bought a WWII era Kar98, and am now looking to get a replacement stock for it. I took apart everything else but the thing holding me back from taking the barrel assembly out is the front bayonet lug. Instructions online say to just push the spring piece down and slide it off, but it wont budge. I noticed there was a bayonet stud further down, but when I looked at it, there was nowhere for it to move out on the other side, it looks like it was riveted in…
Is there something I’m missing? I need some illustrated step-by-step instructions but it’s all writting like it’s oh-so-easy. I honestly need help, because I want to use it but save the original stock.
That front piece has a little button on it you need to press in to slide it forward….. try using the cleaning rod to press it in. then press in the spring to get the other ring that is up the stock a bit, they com off but you might need to tap on them.
