How can find out info on my old WWII German Military Photos? I have possible Hitler/or look-alike in one pic.?
I inherited a bunch of old WWII German photos from my grandfather. I also have his war diary and an old german camera. My grandfather was in 90th infantry, 537AAA, and used to talk about killing a german officer & taking his photos & camera from his napsack. He had over 900 various photos, primarily blown-up bridges, aircraft, pretty places in France, ect. Most all the pics have dates and place and person on the back (in German). However, one pic really looks like Hitler speaking to a large crowd. Two questions: How would I go about finding info on photo; is it real, ect. And second question, what do I do with a photo like that? I am kinda creeped out by it, and don’t exactly want it in the house. I’m Jewish. But I don’t want to put up for auction on Ebay for some nazi-freak to purchase. If authentic, would the photo have any sort of value, either monatarily or historically? Any ideas where I could go to find out info on the internet or travel somewhere locally (TX)?
They have a museum about the Holocaust. It is so no-one will ever forget the horrors that happened there. I’m not real sure where it is but they could help you. They may even appreciate some of the photos. If you can’t find them, go to a localo library and they can probably help you find a WW 11 historian. It would have value. The monetary would probably be from a “Nazi-Freak”. It would have the most value for them probably. The historical value for a museum would be great. They may not have a lot of money to give though.
