can I book a cruise in my maiden name if my passport is still in maiden name?
I haven’t gotten around to changing my name on my passport, however my driver’s license and social security card now show my married name. I was wondering though, if I booked a cruise under my maiden name, could I still use my passport that reflects my maiden name? The passport is not expired, only a few years old. I was just curious if I could use it, as long as when I book the cruise, I use my maiden name?
Depending on how much time you have left on your passport, it might be wise to go ahead and get it updated. If it expires in almost a year or less, I’d recommend getting a new passport. Mine not only expired but also had my maiden name on it. To get a new one, I only had to show my driver’s license because I had to show legal docs to get my new last name on my DL.
If you don’t get a new passport, I would recommend taking your current passport along with your driver’s license and a notarized certificate of marriage which can be obtained from your county records office. Been there, done that.
