A wise man once said, in order to have peace, you must prepare for the war. But looking at the footages of the wars happening across the globe, we get shivers. We all have also read about the wars of old times and the destruction they faced after them.
Truly, war is indeed the last thing one could wish for. But, as civilians the occurring of such an event is beyond our control.
All that we can do is prepare ourselves for such an emergency, just like we do it for the natural calamities.
Here are some easy tips for the preparations you can make to face a war situation in the city or nation.
1. Make a bag of all necessities that you might just pick and run in case of an emergency.
2. The items in this bag include:
a. Food – Prefer non perishable food. Also, keep refreshing this food in the kit form time to time.
b. Water – Undoubtedly it is a necessity for any human being. But, make sure to refresh the water in the kit, else it might make you ill and add to your problems.
c. Pieces of cloth – These would be very useful to cover your mouth & nose.
d. Sunglasses – This would help you cover your eyes, that is very essential while bombarding.
3. The government also makes several war emergency plans. They make the underground facilities that are used in times of crisis.
4. These underground services contain grain silos, medical stockpiles, etc. The injured civilians & soldiers are generally housed in these underground facilities only.
5. The United States Government has made various underground centers in the big cities that can be used during the war emergency situations. For instance, the underground facilities near all major railroads.
6. Just like the government keeps a stock of guns & ammo in spare for the war times, they should make sure to equip themselves with some machineries to help the civilians in the war times like mobile refineries, truck transportable bridges, water purification systems, mobile decontamination services, etc.
7. Also amenities like petroleum supply are also especially reserved for the times of war.
8. Next, it is the duty of the government to organize effective co-operation amidst the different civil services, like the police, fire services, healthcare service, other public utility providers, etc. They are all expected to work in tandem to ensure the civilians’ protection as much as possible.
9. Sometimes, some able bodies are also requested to undergo some special training programs in order to help in protection of the civilians.
10. Most of the war related preparations involve the central role of the national government & international security institutions.
11. In times of war, the citizens have no choice but to follow the way on which the government leads them.
12. Only a collective effort can ensure survival to some extent.
13. Probably one of the most effective ways of preparing for the war is disseminating the information effectively & rapidly. The tips and information about self-protection must be disseminated among the public. With this, concerned international authorities would also be able to make a benefit.
14. All in all, a large pool full of information resources would help both the parties, and allow them to optimistically come down to some agreement even before the war eventually could break out.
15. As the technology is soaring new heights, human beings have excelled in making weapons for their own destruction. With the latest technologies on the run, and weapons ready to wipe away a whole continent within a few minutes, the latest nuclear, chemical & biological weapons would define the course of war. Hence, it is becoming all the more difficult to prepare for the war emergencies.
